Absentee Voting

For those not available to vote on election day, there is an opportunity to file an absentee ballot. To request an absentee ballot, a letter or email to the Town Clerk is sufficient if all information are present:

1. the voter’s name and residential address

2. the address where the ballot should be sent

3. the election(s) for which the request is made

4. the voter’s date of birth and at least one of the following:

a. the voter’s Minnesota driver’s license number;

b. Minnesota state identification number;

c. the last four digits of the voter’s Social Security number; or

d. a statement that the voter does not have any of these;

5. oath stating that the information contained on the form is accurate, that the voter is applying on their own behalf, and that the voter is signing the oath under penalty of perjury;

6. the voter’s own signature; and

7. the date the voter signed. (M.S. 203B.02, subd. 1; 203B.04, subd. 1)

IMPORTANT DATES

1/13/2017 – Last day to send absentee ballot application to persons who applied to automatically receive one

2/10/2017 – First day absentee ballots will be mailed by non-forwardable postage mail to registered voters

2/10-3/13/2017 – Period of time for Absentee Voting

3/11/2017 – Another Absentee Voting option is to go in person to the polling place the Saturday prior to the election from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

State Law mandates that the clerk’s office be open on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM for Absentee Voting per Minn. Stat. 203B.085.
