Resolution Regarding All Hazard Mitigation Plan (2006)

RESOLUTION TO ADOPT BY ORDINANCE AN ALL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN

WHEREAS, The County of St Louis participated in a hazard mitigation planning process as established under the Hazard Mitigation Act of 2000; and

WHEREAS, the Act establishes a framework for the development of a county hazard mitigation plan; and

WHEREAS, the county as part of the planning process established an extensive public participation process and local coordination among county and neighboring local units of government, businesses and other organizations; and

WHEREAS, the plan includes a risk assessment including past hazards, hazards that threaten the county, maps of hazards, an estimate of structures at risk, estimate of potential dollar losses for each hazard, the general description of land uses and development trends; and

WHEREAS, the plan includes a mitigation strategy including goals and objectives and an action plan identifying specific mitigation projects and costs; and

WHEREAS, the plan includes a maintenance or implementation process including plan updates, integration of plan into other planning documents and how the county will maintain public participation and coordination; and

WHEREAS, the draft plan was shared with state and federal agencies for review and comments; and

WHEREAS, the county has Officially adopted by ordinance the county all hazard mitigation plan in accordance with Minnesota Statues 375.51 and 394.26 on April 26, 2005; and

WHEREAS, the Town has notified the public of its intent to adopt the county all hazard mitigation plan, has made the comprehensive plan available for public review and has held a public hearing prior to final adoption by the Town council as required by Minnesota Statutes 462.355.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE Town of Pequaywan:

Formally adopts by ordinance the St. Louis County All Hazard Mitigation plan as the plan for the town.
